 John P. Herbert Sr., age 87, of Dolton, IL passed away on Aug. 20, 2016. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Dolores nee Fabrie; loving children Linda (late Bruce) Catt, Sandra (Donald) Mitidiero, and John P. Herbert Jr.; fond grandchildren Brian and Krista Catt, Nicholas, Michael and Melissa Mitidiero and Jessica (Vincent) Weiss; dear great-grandchildren Bailey Catt, Russell and Dominic Weiss; and brother Paul  Herbert. He was preceded in death by his parents Alice nee Wisniewski and Russell Herbert, and his brother Stanley Ryskiewicz. John was a foreman at International Harvester for 35 years. He loved fishing, trips to Las Vegas, bingo, and most of all spending time with his family. He was always there to lend a helping hand to those who needed him. He will be greatly missed. Edward P. Vander Luitgaren, age 94. Longtime Olympia Fields and Calumet Park resident. Native of Enschede, Holland. As a proud immigrant, Ed was a member of the U.S. Army’s 13th Infantry Regiment, serving with the invasion forces at Normandy, Baston, Battle of the Bulge, and Battle of the Hurtgen Forest during WWII. As a loyal and hardworking family man, Ed retired in 1975 from Bela Seating Company after 30 years of service, and within weeks began an 18 year career working for his son Tom at the Calumet Coach Company where he was affectionately known as “Pops” by his fellow employees. Loving husband for 69 years of Dawn E. nee Heitner, whom he met while  working as Riveters’ making tank parts at a Southside defense contractor. Devoted father of Thomas (late Donna) Vander Luitgaren, and the late Carol (Rev. Ray) Scherbarth. Beloved grandfather of Thomas and Brian Vander Luitgaren, Laura Grooms, Jenny Hucek, Craig Scherbarth, Christa Bartley and the late Michael Vander Luitgaren.
