Ronald Charles Patton Sr., age 79, of Frankfort, IL, gently entered eternal life on August 17, 2025. Born on March 18, 1946, in East Chicago, IN, Ronald was the beloved son of the late Edward and Ellen (née Harris) Patton and a treasured brother to the late Patricia, Marie, and Terrance. A proud graduate of Tolleston High School in Gary, Indiana, Ronald's dedication to education was evident early on. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Education from Indiana University and later completed a Master's degree in Educational Administration. He later finished all of his doctoral coursework in Education. His journey as an educator began at Tolleston High School, where he taught government, history, and economics for six years. He took great pride in founding the school's first mentorship program, which served to uplift and guide countless students. In 1974, Ronald became the Assistant Principal at Bloom High School, and by 1982, he had risen to the position of Principal. His commitment to the community extended to his service as Superintendent of Bloom Township District 206 from 1994-2004, completing over 30 years of service. His efforts helped establish the District 206 Education Foundation, where he continued to support education as a Board Member until his passing. After his retirement from Bloom Township District 206, Ronald returned to serve as the Director of Governors State University's Metropolitan Institute for Leadership Education and Interim Superintendent and Consultant for Crete-Monee School District 201-U and Rich Township High School District 227, showing his unwavering dedication to the students and families he loved. Ronald cherished his two beloved children from his previous marriage to Theresa Patton: Ronald (Megan) Patton Jr. and Camille (Tyler) LaSalle. Their bond and memories will always be a comforting presence in their lives as they navigate this difficult time. He also leaves behind a loving family, devoted friends, and many students who will never forget his kindness and guidance, being known as "his kids." To honor Ronald's remarkable life, visitation will take place on Saturday, August 30, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at New Faith Baptist Church International, located at 25 South Central Avenue, Matteson, IL, where he was a faithful member until his passing. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Fern Oaks Cemetery in Griffith, IN. Mr. Patton I still can't believe you gave us. We talked a lot especially about my wedding, You are a true Hero to many in so many ways. I will miss our talks, laughs and most importantly the way you instilled in many about being and treating everyone how you want to be treated. The smile will be missed along with hugs would you give. It's time to take your rest and watch how all your students will succeed to do the many teaching you instilled in us.

Mr. Patton you will be missed by the Class of 1981 you treated all of us as one of your kids. You always greeted us every morning in front of the Trojan head with a smile and a hug if needed.

I saw Mr. Patton not long ago in the Frankfort Jewel grocery store. He recognized me and stopped to talk. And of course I remembered him from my days at Bloom (Class of 1981). The woman I was with couldn't believe he recognized me after 44 years. He even remembered my brother Larry's tragic death 36 years ago. Mr. Patton said to my friend and I, "I never forget any of my kids".
May his family and friends find peace and serenity during this difficult time. Thank you for sharing him with the entire Bloom community!
Your work here is done Mr. Patton. Rest in Eternal Peace and we will all meet again someday.❤️

His kindness, wisdom, and genuine care left a lasting mark on so many lives. I’m grateful to have known him, and his memory will always be cherished.
